SST - What to Know

Welcome to Steamboat Springs, Colorado, and the free bus system operated by Steamboat Springs Transit. SST moves more than one million riders a year on average and operates one of the most efficient rural transportation systems in the state.  Hop aboard & leave the driving to us. Thanks for riding the free bus!

Bikes

Whether you are a die-hard year-round two-wheel commuter or recreational rider, SST's fleet of local buses are fitted with bike racks for year-round options should you run out of gas or need a lift.

Each bus has a bicycle rack with space for 3 bikes. If the rack is full, wait for the next bus. Small or odd sized bicycles and bicycles with oversize “fat” tires that do not fit in the bicycle rack are not allowed.

Groceries/Luggage

Groceries and/or luggage cannot be excessive and cannot block aisles. Driver makes determination if excessive. As the bus approaches, ensure you have items ready to expedite the boarding process.

Strollers

Children must be removed from strollers while riding the bus. Strollers should be folded up.

Service Animals

Service animals are welcome. Pets can only be boarded if they are in an airline style pet carrier

Ski & Snowboard Equipment

Equipment should be clean and dry before boarding. Equipment should be held upright and not block the aisles or exits.

Wheelchairs

All buses have wheelchair lifts. SST requires that all mobility devices are secured in designated areas facing forward.
