Steamboat Springs, Colorado – December 10, 2025-The Steamboat Springs Police Department (SSPD) was notified by the US Marshals Service that Isaac Van Marcantel wanted for an armed robbery warrant out of Texas was believed to be in the area of the Steamboat Ski Resort. The US Marshals agent believed Van Marcantel to be armed with a firearm.
SSPD officers coordinated with the Routt County Sheriff’s Office, US Marshals Service, and Steamboat Resort security and successfully located and apprehended the individual in the base area of the resort without incident. The suspect had been snowboarding at the time he was located.
During the response, a residential alarm call near Eagle Ridge Drive, in the same vicinity of the ski area, was also received.
At the time of the alarm, law enforcement had not verified Van Marcentel’s location and out of an abundance of caution, SSPD activated the Northwest Colorado SWAT team. The alarm was determined to be unrelated to the wanted fugitive, and no additional threat was identified.
Van Marcantel was taken into custody and transported to the Routt County Jail pending extradition proceedings.
All persons accused of crimes are presumed innocent until and unless their guilt is established beyond a reasonable doubt in court.
