Steamboat Springs, Colorado–August 29, 2025-In partnership with Routt County, the City of Steamboat Springs has released a draft of the new Steamboat Springs Community Plan, called Community Canvasfor public review and feedback.

“Community Canvas reflects the voices and values of Steamboat Springs,” said Principal Planner Brad Calvert. “Now, we’re asking the community to take one more look and help us shape the final version of this important guiding document.”

The plan is the result of more than 18 months of community engagement and input. Serving as a values-driven foundation, Community Canvas supports informed decision-making, reinforces shared community priorities, and outlines actionable initiatives that can be pursued by the city, regional partners, and local organizations.

The plan also provides the policy framework for tools such as zoning, programs, and other policies designed to address both current and long-term community needs.

The draft plan, including the Future Land Use District Plan, is available for review online. Community members are encouraged to share their thoughts using the feedback form by Friday, September 19, 2025. Input will be used to prepare the final draft of the plan, which will be presented to City Council later this fall.

Using the comment form, please take a few moments to offer your feedback on the draft plan. The project team will collect feedback through Friday, September 19, and prepare a final draft for City Council consideration.

The current Steamboat Springs Area Community Plan was adopted in 2004, and that plan's vision was reconfirmed through a public process in 2014. Routt County adopted a new Master Plan in August 2022, setting the stage for a new locally relevant and regionally responsible Steamboat Springs Community Plan.
