STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, COLORADO-April 29, 2024-A second stabbings in a week, brought the Steamboat Springs Police Department (SSPD) to UC Health Yampa Valley Medical Center for a report of a 31-year-old man with a stab wound early on Sunday morning, April 28, 2024.
The victim transported himself to the hospital from the 1800 block of Central Park Drive where the incident occurred. Investigators quickly identified the suspect and sought an arrest warrant for Erlin Galeano Torrez, a 37-year-old Steamboat Springs resident.
Mr. Galeano Torrez turned himself into SSPD on the morning of April 29, 2024, and is currently being held in the Routt County Jail.
The victim and suspect were known to each other before this incident and there is no threat to the community. This incident is still under investigation.
All persons accused of crimes are presumed innocent until and unless their guilt is established beyond a reasonable doubt in court.
