STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, COLORADO-April 1, 2024-Spring is a time of renewal, fresh perspectives, and new beginnings. It’s also a great time to start something new for your city by serving on a board/commission. The need is always strong and contributions from community members are imperative to the process. The following openings are accepting applications. 

Parks & Recreation Commission
Parks & Recreation Commission serves as an advisory board to City Council and promotes an enhanced quality of life by offering a broad range of safe and accessible resources including parks, open space, trails, and recreational services and facilities. The Parks & Rec Commission is seeking individuals to fill four, regular two-year terms.

Planning Commission
Planning Commission is a permanent committee appointed by City Council to review and act on issues and policies related to long-range planning, land use regulations, and community development. The Commission has three regular, three-year positions open. 

Historic Preservation Commission
HPC conducts monthly meetings where it considers requests for design review, reviews nominations of buildings for listing on the City of Steamboat Springs Register of Historic Places, recommendations to City Council on preservation related topics, recommends on National Register nominations, and conducts review and approval of Colorado State Income Tax Credits for qualified restorations. HPC is looking for individuals to fill several regular three-year positions. 

Board of Adjustment
The BOA reviews requests for adjustments to standards related to single-family homes, duplexes, signage, and floodplains. The board has four regular, three-year positions open. 

Ice Rink Advisory Committee
IRAC advises the Parks & Recreation Commission and staff on matters relating to the Howelsen Ice Arena and related programing. The committee has four, two-year seats available.

Urban Redevelopment Authority Advisory Committee (URAAC)
The URAAC role is to make recommendations to the Steamboat Springs Redevelopment Authority (SSRA) on how to appropriate URA funds on matters related to the implementation of the Base Area Reinvestment Plan. Projects include the redevelopment of Ski Time Square Drive, a public-private partnership to update the Gondola Transit Center and Meadows Parking Lot. URAAC has four vacancies it is looking to fill. URAAC application is different and available here

The deadline to apply for open seats is April 19. Interested parties can find applications HERE and submissions can be emailed or dropped off at City Hall to Laura Egger. All serving members receive a Howelsen Hill Family Ski Pass and Planning Commission members also receive a Haymaker Golf Pass.
