STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, COLORADO-February 8, 2024-Two community skate nights are set to bring festive free events to the Howelsen Ice Arena when the rink partners with Queer Futures and Integrated Communities for Pride Skate and Fiesta on Ice.

“We strive to ensure the Howelsen Ice Arena is a safe space for everyone in the community,” said Howelsen Ice Arena Supervisor Dmitry Chase. “Partnering with community groups like Queer Futures and Integrated Communities allows us to showcase the rink, its affordability and the benefits of this unique facility to the entire community.”

The Olympic-size ice sheet (20,000 square feet) will play host to the following two free community events during March:

Pride Skate – March 2, 2024
Queer Futures Pride Skate will glide into the rink on Saturday, March 2 from 6:30pm to 8pm. Ice admission and skate rentals will be complimentary during the event and pizza and drinks will be served. Colorful costumes are highly encouraged, and all ages are welcome to the free event. Queer Futures is the Yampa Valley's LGBTQIA2S+ Resource Center providing a safe space and opportunities to connect with resources and community.

Fiesta On Ice – March 15, 2024
The Latina community brings the party to the ice when Integrated Communities hosts Fiesta on Ice on Friday, March 15 from 6:30pm to 8pm. Free skate rental and admission is combined with pizza and drinks for a fun night for all ages. In addition, the Steamboat Springs Police Department and other organizations will be on hand to share information about parks, pet licenses and other community topics. Integrated Community connects the immigrant population to resources within the Yampa Valley.

“We’re excited for these events and encourage everyone to join us for the celebration, enjoy free skating whether you’re a first-time or pro, and learn more about each other and our community,” continued Chase.
