STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, COLORADO-December 1, 2023-Yesterday, Thursday, November 30, at approximately 8:10 PM, the Steamboat Springs Police Department (SSPD) and the Routt County Sheriff’s Office (RCSO) learned of a vehicle that was involved in a pursuit with Moffat County Sheriff’s Office.
Moffat County Deputies originally attempted to stop the vehicle after multiple citizens reported erratic driving. The vehicle failed to yield, and deputies pursued the vehicle as it drove east towards Hayden, Colorado. At some point, the deputies terminated their pursuit and the vehicle continued to drive east towards Steamboat Springs, Colorado.
As it entered city limits, SSPD and RSCO located the vehicle and observed erratic driving that posed a threat to the community. A traffic stop was attempted but the vehicle failed to stop and struck a police vehicle and sheriff’s office vehicle several times.
Officers and deputies were able to disable the vehicle and the driver, who was identified as Nellie Rodriguez of Rawlings, Wyoming. She was arrested without further significant incident. Rodriguez was evaluated at the Yampa Valley Medical Center for minor injuries and booked for several felony and misdemeanor offenses including first degree assault of a police officer, vehicular eluding, menacing, and DUI. No officers or deputies were injured.
