STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, COLORADO-May 19, 2023-Two conceptual design plans for the new Civic Plaza, which will be located on 10th Street between Oak Street and the alley, will be shared during open houses next week.
“This area has had a civic and municipal presence since the founding of the town and the new civic plaza has the potential to highlight that historical significance,” said Deputy City Manager Tom Leeson.
The city will host two open houses for community input on Tuesday, May 23, from 5 – 7 PM and again the following day, Wednesday, May 24, from 8 – 10:30 AM, in Centennial Hall (124 10th Street).

Ayers Associates, the landscape architect on the project, has partnered with Landmark Consulting, a local civil engineering firm, to present two design concepts based on initial input from select group of stakeholders. The formalized plan will lay the foundation for the vision for the public space that ties together Centennial Hall with the new Fire Station & City Hall.
The Civic Plaza is envisioned as a space where city staff and the public can stop to make a call, step outside to have an informal meeting or eat lunch. In addition to the daily municipal functions, the plaza would accommodate public gatherings and other programmed uses.
