[ARCHIVED] Tis the Season For Timely Tags!

Snowflake Tag NewsFlash

Steamboat Springs, Colorado-December 3, 2025-The Steamboat Springs Police Department (SSPD) is kicking off a festive community outreach effort this holiday season. As our “elves” are out making rounds for Santa Claus, they are noticing something that needs a little attention to keep you off the naughty list - expired vehicle registration tags.

“This program is about combining the spirit of the holidays with a gentle reminder to help our residents avoid fines down the road,” said Police Chief Mark Beckett. “We know this time of year gets busy, and sometimes things slip through the cracks. We’re here to help keep people on track with a little seasonal fun.”

Instead of finding a ticket on their windshield, residents may receive a friendly, holiday-themed reminder encouraging them to update their vehicle registration. The intent is to keep the season merry, bright, and ticket-free, if possible, for everyone in our community.

The bilingual holiday notices are informational only and do not carry any enforcement action. Drivers are encouraged to renew their tags promptly to avoid future citations.

For more information about vehicle registration or renewal options, visit the Colorado Division of Motor Vehicles website or the Routt County Motor Vehicle Registration webpage.

Happy Holidays from the Steamboat Springs Police Department!
