[ARCHIVED] Ride & Drive Event Sparks a Surge in EV Enthusiasm

Individuals check out an electric vehicle during free event

STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, COLORADO-May 30, 2025-One spark is all it takes to ignite a movement—and this summer, it’s all about plugging into the future. On Sunday, June 8, the EV101 Workshop and Ride & Drive events return to charge up the community’s interest in electric vehicles (EVs).

“The first EV Ride & Drive event locally was four years ago, and we’re thrilled to see how interest has amped up since then,” said Ginger Scott, Grants & Project Management Specialist. “We’re doing everything we can locally to make owning an electric vehicle practical—and to help power the region toward a lower-emissions future.”

The city, in partnership with Yampa Valley Electric Association, Yampa Valley Sustainability Council (YVSC), and Clean Energy Economy for the Region, is flipping the switch on two electrifying events to educate residents and get them behind the wheel of an EV.

🔌 Start your day with a full charge! The EV101 Workshop runs from 9AM to 10AM at the Routt County Community Room (613 Oak Street). Whether you’re EV-curious or ready to make the switch, this session will give you the low-voltage breakdown of EVs vs. PHEVs, how they work, cost-saving tips, and what tax incentives are currently lighting up the market.

🚗 Take it for a spin! After you’ve powered up with knowledge, hit the pavement at the Ride & Drive event from 10AM to 3PM at Howelsen Hill Rodeo Grounds. Test drive a wide range of EVs including Ford Mustang MachE & F-150 Lightning, Subaru Solterra, Tesla Model 3 & Y, Chevy Silverado & Blazer, KIA EV9…and more electric models ready to roll.

The best part? It’s all free—but spots are limited, and registration is required. Don’t short-circuit your chance—sign up now at steamboatsprings.net/ev to reserve your workshop seat or a test drive time slot.
