[ARCHIVED] Suspect Turns Himself Into Police After Vehicle Incident

STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, COLORADO-January 16, 2024-On Friday, January 12, 2024, Steamboat Springs Police Department (SSPD) responded to a report of a vehicle that had collided with the front of the Steamboat Springs High School, causing significant structural damage. 

“We worked closely with Steamboat Springs School District and, over the subsequent days, identified an investigative lead,” said Police Chief Mark Beckett. “I want to thank the community for all the tips and information that was shared and led to this arrest.” 

On Tuesday, January 16, Isaac Spahn-Mascarenas of Craig, CO turned himself into SSPD. He was charge with multiple criminal violations including: 

  • Criminal Mischief (Felony)
  • Reckless Driving (Traffic Misdemeanor)
  • Reckless Endangerment (Class 2 Misdemeanor)
  • Leaving the scene without providing the required information after striking an unattended vehicle/property (Traffic Misdemeanor)
  • Failed to notify police of an accident (Traffic Misdemeanor)

Chief Beckett would like to remind community members to contact SSPD and report any suspicious behavior, including driving in school parking lots late at night.

All persons accused of crimes are presumed innocent until and unless their guilt is established beyond a reasonable doubt in court.
