Corporal Barnett stood out for his leadership with his team and the support he provides other departments like Records, which requires vital information from reports and case approvals. The SSPD’s community outreach is led by Oakland, who was recognized for this role. She was instrumental in the inaugural teen safety week and the successful first responder’s wellness this past year. Officer Andrews received several nominations from Sergeants for his unwavering positive attitude and the influence he has on teammates. In addition, the way he interacts with the public and how much he cares for the community he grew up in and now serves stood out.
Anfang, who is interested in forensic science, was awarded the 2023 Citizen Award. While attending a Coffee with Cop event, she learned of an internship opportunity and has been working with SSPD in this capacity for over a year. She assists across a variety of projects including an active role in the inaugural Teen Safety Week program.
“We’re fortunate to have so many dedicated officers and staff serving our community,” continued Beckett. “These awards set a high standard for excellence, and I know will inspire all of us to strive to be our best every day for each other, for the department and for our city.”
