[ARCHIVED] Vehicle Trespasses & Thefts On The Rise

SSPD Vehicle Break Ins NewsFlash

STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, COLORADO-December 7, 2023-The Steamboat Springs Police Department (SSPD) and other regional law enforcement agencies have noted a dramatic increase in vehicle trespasses and thefts in recent weeks.

In nearly all these incidents, the perpetrators have been attempting to open the doors of vehicles looking for unlocked doors.

When the suspects locate an unlocked door, they are stealing loose, visible items.

SSPD encourages community members to lock the doors of their vehicle and homes and to avoid leaving valuables in their vehicles especially in plain sight.

SSPD asks to have any suspicious behavior around vehicles reported to 911 immediately. If any community member has information related to this trend, please contact SSPD or any other law enforcement agency in the Yampa Valley.
