Big Red Sleigh 2023 NewsFlash

STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, COLORADO-December 7, 2023-Santa Claus is coming to town and will make an early visit to all the good boys and girls atop Steamboat Springs Fire Rescue’s (SSFR) 525-horsepower Big Red Sleigh (aka Tower-61) to spread cheer, share holiday spirit and joy of the season.

“With all that is going on in the world today, it’s important to share the holiday spirit as a community,” said Firefighter/Public Education Coordinator Julie Wernig. “The holidays are not easy for everyone, so we have to continue to be kind, compassionate and caring to each other and this tour is one small way to share a little joy.”

Over the seven days leading up to Christmas, Kris Kringle will visit a different neighborhood each evening atop the bright red tower fire truck. The tour is anticipated to depart the fire station between 5 to 5:15pm and will travel through the areas listed below.

Again, this year, Life360 app will allow people to track Santa’s route each evening aboard the Big Red Sleigh and see where the big man in the red suit and his elves are in real time. A code for each evening will be shared before the Big Red Sleigh departs for its nightly rounds.
