Local Youth Encouraged to Join Newly Formed Project Steering Committee
STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, COLORADO-December 12, 2022-The City of Steamboat Springs Parks & Recreation is in the initial stages of redesign and replacement of the skate park at Howelsen Hill. Funding for the redevelopment was obtained through the city’s annual CIP budget process and construction is tentatively planned for the fall of 2023.
Calling all skaters! Parks & Recreation is looking for community voices from youth and young adults to help with the initial design plan for the new skate park. A steering committee made up of local stakeholders and members of the skating community has been developed and will begin meeting to discuss concepts for the reimagined park next month.
As a facility targeted primarily at local youth, Parks & Recreation is also looking for several additional youth community members to join the steering committee. Children grades 1st through 12th who are interested in participating in the development process are encouraged to apply online at steamboatsprings.net/apply.
Those who are interested are asked to fill out a short questionnaire about what they enjoy most about skating at Howelsen Hill and why they would like to serve on the committee.
Participants will be asked to join several steering committee meetings currently scheduled for January 4, January 11, and January 18 from 4 PM to 5:30 PM. Those interested in serving on the committee should submit their application no later than Friday, December 23. Those selected to serve on the committee will be notified by December 28.
