Steamboat Springs Fire Prevention requires permits for the following activities and events:

  • Blasting
  • Carnivals
  • Cooking Tents at Events
  • Fireworks Retail
  • Fireworks Displays
  • Food Trucks
  • Haunted Houses
  • Tents/Canopies 400 square feet or larger
  • Underground Tank Removal

Dry Hydrant Permit & Information

Providing a water supply for firefighting in rural areas when a municipal water supply is not available can be challenging, expensive, labor-intensive, and time-consuming. One viable solution is the use of suction supply water sources, commonly known as dry hydrants. Recreation Fire Pit Permit & Information

"Residential Recreational Fire Permit" - shall be obtained from the Office of Fire Prevention Services for any residential recreational fire. Permits may be filled out over the phone or in person. Inspections shall be performed prior to any recreation fires. Commercial recreational fire permits may be issued for one time only special events on a case by case basis.
