Through the authority of the Colorado State Statutes and the city home rule charter, the Steamboat Springs Municipal Court has jurisdiction over alleged misdemeanor municipal code and traffic violations within the city limits.
Certain charges require a court appearance, while others may be resolved by simply paying a fine. The Municipal Court is a court of record and court employees are not permitted to provide legal advice. However, they are happy to answer procedural questions.
Judges are not allowed to discuss your court case on the phone. Submit your request in writing or call the court clerk's office to be added on to a court docket.
There is evidence available in your case. This could include: a copy of your ticket with any officer notes, police reports, witness statements, photos, videos (body camera, dash camera, store surveillance), etc. View Discovery Notice (PDF)
You have a right to:

Review the evidence before paying your ticket or accepting an offer in your case; and
Request a later court date for time to receive and review evidence.
If you want a copy of the evidence, email the City Paralegal.
