Sonja Macys rejoined City Council when she was elected to her current four-year District III seat in November 2017. She had previously served on Council from 2011-2015.
During her time on council, Macys’ attention has been dedicated toward fiscal discipline, transparency, good governance and a strong belief in the importance of the natural environment that so many of us value across the community.
With a natural resources and sustainability focus, Macys has turned her passion for the outdoors into a twenty-five year profession working in various roles for the Bird Conservancy of the Rockies, Yampatika, Tucson Audubon Society, USAID/Conservation International and Pronatura Peninsula de Yucatan.
She volunteers for organizations that make a difference and have an environmental focus.
