Code Enforcement


Code enforcement consists of one full-time parking code enforcement officer, one full-time community service supervisor, and one full-time community service officer year round. There are also at least 10 seasonal officers on an on-call basis for special events. Code enforcement and community service officers handle non-criminal calls to include but not limited to:

  • Animal control
  • Assisting police officers and EMS with traffic control at accident scenes
  • Bicycle registration
  • Bicycle safety
  • Code enforcement
  • Lost and found property
  • Over the counter accident report
  • Parking enforcement and complaints
  • Planning complaint
  • Public fingerprinting
  • Snow removal complaints
  • Traffic control

Community service officers also provide crowd and traffic control at special events year round and patrol the city’s trails and sidewalks on bicycle.

Bike Registrations

Register your bicycle at the Steamboat Springs Police Department. Registration can be done Monday through Thursday from 8:00 am until 4:00 pm.


Effective August 1, 2016, our fingerprinting schedule will change to Tuesdays and Wednesdays (except for holidays), from 8:00 am until 4:00 pm. This does not include sex offender registration fingerprints. These are taken 7 days a week, 24 hours a day.
